As I mentioned yesterday, I’m a wee bit behind on my blogging due to my computer dying. But I didn’t want you to miss all the excitement from April and May, so I’m just going back and filling in the gaps now. The event in this post took place a month ago, on Friday, May 3rd. It’s important for you to know that because of its proximity to my Wedding Anniversary date (May 2nd). Hard to believe, but Nick & I celebrated our 10th year together!
Here’s what happened: On the evening of Friday, June 3rd I was invited to a vendor event at the Taj Hotels in my capacity as the new Travel Manager for the Consulate. The Taj is a premium luxury hotel brand known for delighting their customers with unexpected surprises. They excel at hospitality, which is why they are one of our frequent partners for events and large visits.
I don’t remember if I mentioned it was my 10th Anniversary or if my colleague did, but whatever the case, I thought nothing of it, just something to make conversation about. Little did I realize that just as the ceremony was ending, they’d call Nick and I forward and wheel out this lovely cake.
They had a knife with a ribbon on it and insisted that we cut the cake together (we didn’t even do that at our wedding because we served ice cream for dessert!).
Of course they then wanted us to feed each other, which was also quite amusing.
I was worried that my husband was going to think I set this up (he hates having a spotlight on him in front of a large crowd) but he was a good sport about it.
It was a totally unexpected and beautiful way to close out our Anniversary week. Nick said that the bathroom attendant even wished him a Happy Anniversary . . . talk about high levels of service! Was definitely a night to remember.
