It has been a week of non-stop birthday festivities in celebration of Nia’s 4th Birthday! I didn’t want to leave you out on the fun, so here’s a recap of all the action!
Nana and Papa (Sarah’s Parents) arrived on a flight from MN late Friday night. Nia had been awaiting their arrival for weeks.
What Nia didn’t know was that her Auntie Emily and Cousin Armin also decided to come along and surprise her. You would not believe the squeals of joy that came out of her mouth when she woke up Saturday morning and found not 2, but 4 awesome people at our house!
Nia’s cousin, Armin, is the sweetest little kid you’ll ever meet. He adores Nia and basically stares at her with googly eyes all the time and kisses her picture. She thinks he’s pretty great, except when he’s stealing attention away from her. All in all though, they play pretty well together.
This birthday had a horsey theme to it (to match Nia’s latest obsession). She received a Schleich barn from Nick and I and got lots of horses & accessories to use with it. She was overjoyed!
When they weren’t playing with the horses, we were busy doing birthday parades and taking in some fall fun.
Here we are at Cox Farms, a GIGANTIC pumpkin patch west of DC. In addition to the usual hayride and pumpkin selection, they also had performers, at least 8 slides and animals of all shapes and sizes.
I do wish, however, that someone would have warned me about the extreme amount of electrical shock that my bum would receive by going down this slide. Check out the adult’s faces above! Surprisingly, doesn’t seem to be bothering the kids…
On Tuesday we celebrated Nia’s birthday at her school. We brought donuts (her favorite treat). The ceremony included her jumping on each number to signify the years she’s completed and then leaping into my arms. We also were asked to share stories about how Nia’s changed over the last year. Given her love for music, we also decided to teach the kids one of her favorite songs from Nana’s preschool.
She loved every minute of it and it was made all the more special due to our out-of-town guests! The fun wasn’t over yet though…
On Thursday the 22nd, her actual birthday, we got tickets to Disney on Ice. We gave her a choice between this or a birthday party and she unequivocally chose this. That should give you a sense of how excited she was.
As you can imagine, it was princess mania. Every time a new one came out she’d gasp and go, “Mom, there’s _________!” (like it was some big shocker that princess after princess was coming out)
After much deliberation, she settled on her Belle dress. It was a good choice, as Elsa and Anna dresses were definitely the most worn by other girls.
As if that wasn’t enough fun for one birthday, this life-sized horse arrived from Grandma and Baca (Nick’s parents). It is HUGELY popular and perfect for watching morning cartoons with your baby dolly! I can’t tell you how many hooves I’ve cleaned already and how many pretend carrots I’ve given it…Â Good thing she loves it because it’s the closest thing she’ll ever get to having her own horse!
We hope you enjoyed your Birthday week Nia! Happy 4th Bday and may this be another fabulous year ahead! We love you!!
