There’s never a dull day on the Malecon (our ocean-side park near our house) and since we go out there several times each day, we inevitably run into lots of fun adventures. Like yesterday, for example.
Meet Renata. She’s about 6 or 7 years old and has great fashion taste (check out those shoes down below!) She was an absolute cutie and took an instant liking to Nia as they were both playing in the fountain. Here they are meeting for the first time:
The great thing about kids is they don’t waste any time on formalities. These two just jumped right in, fast friends in 2 minutes flat! What was so fun about the exchange for me was that it was the first time Nia’s played with another child. Usually she just plays NEAR other kids but doesn’t interact directly with them much. This time was VERY, VERY different.
I think what delighted Nia most about Renata was that she was a big kid (Nia secretly thinks she’s 3 years old) and that she was willing to meet Nia pace for pace.
Here they are crawling together…
And here’s a little hair-pulling…
The bulk of the time however, was spent engaged in a friendly screaming match. Nia is in the midst of a shrieking phase right now (which is making mommy go a little crazy). Imagine how surprised she was when Renata shrieked back with the same intensity RIGHT IN HER FACE. I have to admit, I was pretty amused…
I’m not sure the other park bystanders would say the same though. By the time we got the ladies to settle down, they had attracted quite a crowd.
I’d hate for you to miss out on the fun of the screaming match, so here’s a short excerpt from it:
