If you’ve been following me on the blog or Facebook lately, you’ll know that I’ve been very vocal about my top goal for 2011 which is (Drumroll, please….) TO HAVE A BABY. Â Being the powerful intention setter that I am (and with a little help from Nick), I’m happy to report that we’ve got success on the first go round. Â :) Â I had no idea that it could happen that fast, but folks, be careful **it works just like they say it does**. Â I’m still not over the initial shock factor!
I don’t feel like playing by the normal pregnancy rules, so we’re announcing Baby Novak at 5 weeks in (no gasping, please)! Â That’s right, we don’t even know the official due date yet, should be sometime in mid-October! Â Turns out that my body wasn’t being attacked by a parasite these last few weeks, it was merely letting me know that a baby was on board. Â Could have fooled me! Â My skin looks like I’m back in high school (sorry, no pics for you), every smell makes me want to throw up (although I haven’t yet) and I have the weirdest cravings for Sun Chips…
And yes, that does mean we’re still at risk for a miscarriage until the 2nd trimester but I’d never want to go at that alone, so if it does happen, know that I’m counting on you for support. Â But in the meantime, let’s just assume that everything will sail along smoothly and I’ll keep you updated on how baby and I are doing. Â Deal?
You’ll be pleased to know I am taking full advantage of my AMAZING partner in crime and am getting him trained quite nicely – he’s already getting me water every night, which I SOOOO appreciate. Â We’ll be adding in foot rubs shortly….
Both of us are still a bit edgy about the whole thing, but overall we’re pretty pumped to join the “Parents Club”. Â I’ll be planting myself in Minnesota and delivering there, so there’ll be ample time for everyone to come visit. Â YAHOO! Â That’s all for now folks, thanks for sharing in our joy!
So excited for you guys! Here’s hoping we’ll get a chance to meet baby Novak in person! Congrats!

Congrats!!!
Congrats! We were speedy concievers, too…even this time by accident. I’m sure everything will turn out just fine, but enjoy it! And don’t rush to each next pregnancy milestone…that’s what I did with the first, and I feel like I missed it all. This time, it’s not nearly as fun being pregnant, so I wish I’d taken things slower. But I guess you don’t need a fertility blessing in Bhutan…but a healthy baby one!
Ahhhh Congratulations!!!!!! I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful pregnancy and am soo excited for you guys! I hear you on the sun ships and high-school skin, but I think it will all be worth it. Stay well and keep us posted!
Thanks Jen- I’m sure the FS Gods will put us together at some point! :)

So funny that all the mothers out there had an inkling I was pregnant when I was totally clueless! Can’t wait for my ‘mother intuition’ to kick in. We are oh-so-very excited (and a wee bit scared too). What a crazy journey this is!

Wow, what great news!:-) Congratulations!!! I am an occasional lurker in your blog because I love to read your posts about my country, the Philippines, (when I miss it too much) and love your openness and brimming sense of optimism. Such an ambassadress of goodwill!:-) I wish you a safe and smooth pregnancy and a healthy baby. Enjoy your pregnancy too. It’s such a special time in a woman’s life.:-) Take care.

Wahoo, that is so exciting! I’ll definitely keep you updated on the journey and will watch for your status updates to come through on FB!
Congrats to you both!!! I’m not sure if Brendan shared with you or not, but we are a few months apart (I’m due in July)! The first few months can be pretty icky, but know that the 2nd trimester is blissful so you have something to look forward to. Congrats again!!! :)
Yay Katie! We’ll have to have a joint celebration when I get back. So excited for you and pumped that we’ll have kids that are so close in age! And thanks for letting me know it gets easier. I’ve become a full-time sleeper! :)
Sarah, I’ve been following your blog for a couple months, and thought I’d pop out of the woodwork to give my congratulations. You will be such a wonderful mother! Congrats!
Thank you dear! Thanks for following our adventures… :)
Hi Sarah, Wow! Congratulations on the baby. Is it made in the Philippines? I forgot to warn you that there is something in our water there that makes people want to be mommies and daddies, but I am very happy for the both of you. I bet he or she will be as great as exploring the world like his or her parents is.
Yup, made in the Philippines! :) We’re really excited and a lot scared too!
