On Wednesday night Jenna and I went to our very first Twins Game in the new stadium. Â To be honest, I was pretty sick of hearing all the hype about this stadium and didn’t expect the experience to live up to the rave reviews I’d heard. Â Boy was I wrong. Â It was such a vastly different experience than the Dome. Â I might go so far as to say it was **magical**. Â Those who know me understand what high praise this is because I am in no way, shape or form a sports fan.
The strange part was that it felt more like a community gathering than a sports game. Â I ran into 3 friends at the game and knew of at least 4 more that were there that I didn’t see.
One of the things I loved was that there were lots of “home grown” products available like Caribou Coffee and Minnesota Craft Beers. Â Best Buy had a big presence as well with gaming kiosks in several places and a photo booth where you could get your picture taken and have it emailed to your phone.
I think the biggest thing that’s changed about attending a Twins game is how technologically interactive they are now. Â Throughout the night there were all sorts of games/activities where the announcer prompted you to vote for something via text or send your pictures to an email address, at which point the best ones were then put up on the big screen. Â It was really quite impressive to see how technology could be used to make the fan experience more interactive. Â In closing, all I can say is that I will now be doing my part to keep spreading the hype about this amazing facility! Â This is a stadium Minnesotans can be proud of….
