I can’t get enough of this story about Arnel Pineda, the Filipino who became the front man for Journey’s comeback tour in 2008. This 10 minute CBS news interview tells the story best – don’t miss the part about where Arnel had to sing in front of Nick’s colleague to convince him that he wasn’t making this up and he REALLY did need a Visa to the US to audition for Journey! Feel free to scope out the Arnel Pineda Fan Site while you’re at it too…
What an amazing story – loved watching the video. Going to see your in laws next weekend – we are sailing on the bay and having a great time – sounds like you are enjoying your first tour as a FS family member – I was so happy when the Department changed our (wives) status to family member and not DEPENDENT! Keep having fun – continue to enjoy reading your blog. Chris Coleman
Thanks so much Chris- have a blast with Robert and Joyce!
I could not beleive when i heard Arnel Pineda voice sing all of the Journey’s greatest hits that i ended up with goose bumps from my head to my toes. Wow!!!! Go and get ’em Arnel you sure sound identicle to Steve Perry and that’s no Bull??
Amazing story.. wow, that takes me back. I lived in the Philippines in the 80’s and carry that enormous experience close to my heart always. Very touching to read how Arnel didn’t stop believing through all that their family went through..!
I know Sheryl- It’s a really inspiring story! I too am going to really miss the Philippines when it’s time to leave in a year…
